I recall Planet of the Apes when Taylor realizes he's been on earth the whole time-

"You Maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to hell!"

The politicians, they giveth and they taketh away. Things they vowed to protect, put in jeopardy for the sake of the almighty dollar. It's the only "green" that matters to them. They've decided to open ANWR for oil drilling.

Funny I'd just mentioned the topic in a previous post and then I see this. Hey, while we're at it lets blast the hell out of Bristol Bay for the pebble mine and really screw Alaska.

Read it and weep...

I think the goal of conservation should not be to stop once we think we've protected something, but to teach the value of conservation to future generations, so it never ends.

This is just sad...

  1. Good story and points. It's all about wise use and not destructive use. Finding a way to reduce dependance on foreign oil is a good thing but not at the cost of destroying the land and animals. It is a fine balance and with all the smart people on this planet, you'd think we could figure this out. Gas here in CT was $.397 a gallon today. $4 is surely coming. How to find a balance.

  2. I hear you! If we havn't seen disaster after disaster with oil drilling and transport I might not be so uptight about it. but still even disaster free drilling disrupts the place.
